Why This Role Matters
The Associate Specialist of Music & Entertainment (Pop Culture) is responsible for delivering Christie’s strategy across Music and Entertainment (film and television), and broader cultural collectibles. This role combines business development, subject-matter expertise, and client relationship management to drive growth across both auction and private sale channels.
The role
may work collaboratively across regions, positioning Christie’s as a market leader in the rapidly evolving global pop culture landscape. Working closely with leadership, consultants, and cross-regional teams, this role will expand market share, secure consignments, and cultivate new collecting audiences, whilst ensuring best-in-class execution, scholarship, and client management. How You’ll Make an Impact Strategic Growth Contribute to the global Music & Entertainment sale strategy partnering with Private & Iconic Collection, and adjacent categories. Drive revenue growth through securing key consignments and developing innovative auction and private sale formats in partnership with the International Head .
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging categories across music, entertainment, and cultural collectibles. Business Development Develop relationships with private clients and industry stakeholders. Partner with and act as relationship owner for Music & Entertainment consignments. Partner with Client Strategy and regional leadership to drive opportunities and internal relationships.
Represent Christie’s at client meetings, pitches, and relevant industry events. Specialist Expertise & Sales Execution Deliver appraisals, authentication, valuations for Music & Entertainment property in New York. Lead various owner sales, including sale management, exhibitions, previews, and auction activity. Contribute and help shape sale strategy for various owner sales in New York.
Negotiate transactions, including guarantees and private sales where appropriate. Execute rigorous standards in provenance research, authentication, intellectual property, and rights management. Undertake travel for business development, client visits, events, exhibitions, and other industry events. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with departments including Sports, Books, Science, Technology & Natural History, Luxury, Private & Iconic Collections, Commercial, Marketing, Digital, Proposals, and Business Management.
Drive integrated campaign strategies across all client engagement channels (including marketing & digital) to expand reach and audience. Thought Leadership & Representation Serve as an ambassador for Christie’s Music & Entertainment category. Shape Christie’s voice within the broader cultural and entertainment landscape, reinforcing brand leadership and credibility. What You’ll Bring to
the Team
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Music, Film, Media Studies, Cultural Studies, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Experience
Experience
in auction houses, private sales, entertainment, music, or related cultural markets. Market Expertise : Strong knowledge of Pop Culture markets, including music, film, television, and entertainment collectibles, with strong awareness of emerging trends. Business Development : Proven track record of securing major consignments, building client relationships, and delivering substantial revenue growth.
Commercial Acumen : Commercial mindset, pricing strategy, and fluency in commercial deal structures. Specialist Expertise : Demonstrated expertise in valuation, authentication, provenance research, and category scholarship. Communication : Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Collaboration : Ability to work cross-functionally and operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization. Travel : Willingness to travel as required.
