Why This Role Matters
The Expertise Coordinator is responsible for managing the expertise process within the New York Impressionist & Modern Art department for all sale consignments and other miscellaneous expertise inquiries.
How You Will Make An Impact
Lead the authentication process for all auction and private sales consignments in the Impressionist and Modern Art category: includes writing letters, updating sale spreadsheets (sale runner), liaising with Photo Studio and e-mail follow up and organization of certificates of authenticity . Develop and maintain excellent relationships and communication with international experts and clients Act as liaison between department and experts to communicate effectively in a timely fashion Liaise with Expertise Coordinators in the department globally to organize departmental conference calls on expertise issues and proactively solicit feedback from internal expert contacts Coordinate all expertise shipments domestically and internationally Anticipate problems that may arise with experts, artists, consignors, purchasers and proactively identify solutions Negotiate rates and fees with external experts Assist sale teams with auction related projects and other

What You Will Bring To The Team
French language fluency required Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work
experience
in applicable Art History or Decorative Arts category Minimum of 2-3 years paid work
experience
in related field Knowledge of the auction business Knowledge of Outlook, Excel Spreadsheets, Word Processing and Presentation software (Microsoft Office preferred) Ability to learn Christie’s systems including COS, JDE, intranet and website Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication Superior client service and negotiation

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize Strong follow-up
