Why This Role Matters

Research Assistants in the Post-War & Contemporary Art department support our specialists and sales teams by undertaking detailed research on works of art cosigned for sale. This includes, but is not limited to, bibliographical research; investigating exhibition histories and provenance information; writing catalogue essays; sourcing and processing archival images; and preparing client-facing sales materials. How You’ll Make an Impact Your research will be crucial to the success of our market-leading sales.

It will be published in our catalogues (both printed and online) and used in other communications with clients. Your discoveries will sometimes shape the narrative surrounding the works that we sell and their subsequent presentation. You also will provide support for the smooth running of the department during the rest of the year.

You will relish the challenge of working in a demanding, fast-paced environment and will be able to undertake multiple tasks with competing deadlines. You will be willing to contribute your ideas and learn from colleagues.

You will possess a comprehensive knowledge of art history, gained either through an undergraduate or master’s degree or equivalent work experience. You will have exceptional communication skills (both spoken and written) and be able to work as part of a team with both peers and senior colleagues.
