Chris Ofili has created 'Requiem', a major site-specific mural spanning three walls above Tate Britain's north staircase in London. The work pays tribute to the late artist Khadija Saye, who died in the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017, and will remain on view for ten years from September 2023. Ofili met Saye in Venice in May 2017, a month before the tragedy, and the mural imagines a landscape of giant skies, vast horizons, and flowing water with Saye at the center of an energy force.
