David Zwirner: Sigmar Polke Exhibition 'The Knowledge of Colours' Opens at De Pont Museum
The Facts
De Pont Museum in Tilburg, Netherlands, will present 'Sigmar Polke: The Knowledge of Colours,' an exhibition exploring the artist's radical color experiments from the 1980s onward. The show runs from September 20, 2026 to February 28, 2027, and spans more than three decades of Polke's work, featuring his unorthodox use of pigments and materials. Central to the exhibition is the four-part series 'Hermes Trismegistos I-IV' (1995) from De Pont's collection, displayed alongside eight monochrome color panels, 'Farbtafeln' (1986/87 and 1992), on loan from the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, as well as works from other Dutch and international museums and private collections.
