Born in Oaxaca, Mexico, Berenice Olmedo pursued her formal education at the Universidad de las Américas in Puebla. She is currently based in Mexico City, where she develops her practice at the intersection of sculpture and performance art.
Her work frequently examines themes of disability, care, and the physical body, often incorporating prosthetic devices to interrogate the relationship between technology and human identity. Her sculptural practice is characterized by a critical engagement with the medicalized body and the societal structures surrounding physical impairment.
Olmedo continues to gain international recognition for her contributions to contemporary discourse on human identity. She is included in the 2026 exhibition New Humans: Memories of the Future at the New Museum in New York, which explores the impact of technology on the human condition.
