Frieze Seoul 2025 Announces Fifth Edition With 125+ Galleries, New Curated Sections
The Facts
On July 16, 2026, Frieze announced details of the fifth edition of Frieze Seoul, to be held September 2–5, 2026, at COEX in Gangnam. More than 125 galleries from 30 countries will participate, with over 70% based in the Asia-Pacific region and more than 50 operating permanent spaces in Seoul. The fair introduces two new sections: Material Practice, focused on the intersection of contemporary art and design, and Spotlight, highlighting underrepresented 20th-century artists. The reimagined Focus section will feature 16 emerging galleries from Asia and beyond. Leading international exhibitors include Hauser & Wirth, Pace Gallery, David Zwirner, White Cube, and Sprüth Magers, alongside major Korean galleries such as Kukje Gallery, Gallery Hyundai, and Arario Gallery.
The Signal
The fifth edition reinforces Seoul's role as a central hub for Asia's contemporary art scene, reflecting the growing international visibility of Korean artists and the broader Asia-Pacific art world's increasing focus on Korea. The addition of Material Practice and Spotlight signals Frieze's effort to broaden the fair's scope beyond traditional gallery presentations, tapping into the region's rich craft traditions and underrepresented historical narratives. For collectors, the expanded Korean and Japanese gallery presence and the new curated sections offer deeper access to emerging and historically overlooked artists, while the fair's continued partnership with Kiaf SEOUL underscores the consolidation of Seoul as a key art-market destination during Asia's September fair season.
