Gagosian Artist Carol Bove Designs T-Shirt for LGBTQ+ Youth Fundraiser
New Alternatives for Homeless LGBTQ+ Youth has partnered with sustainable fashion brand Everybody.World to launch a limited-edition artist T-shirt series, beginning with a design by Carol Bove. The initiative responds to reduced protections and public funding for queer and trans youth. Bove's shirt features a still from the 1914 Italian film "Cabiria" and is available as a preorder from June 4 through June 30, 2026, with 100% of proceeds benefiting New Alternatives. The garment is made from the world's first fabric composed entirely of postindustrial cotton waste, knit and sewn in Los Angeles. The launch coincides with Bove's mid-career survey at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
The Signal
The collaboration signals an increased urgency among artists and galleries to mobilize charitable fundraising in a climate of reduced institutional support. For collectors, the limited preorder window and direct charitable impact may drive demand, while the partnership with an ethical fashion brand adds a sustainability angle to art-world commerce. Bove's involvement links her Guggenheim survey to accessible merchandise, potentially broadening audience engagement with her practice beyond the museum.
