Galerie Max Hetzler Reports Ekblad and Oehlen Exhibitions, Editions and Acquisitions
On May 15, 2026, Galerie Max Hetzler reported that works by Ida Ekblad and Albert Oehlen are included in the group exhibition When I’m In My Painting at The Twist, Kistefos Museum in Jevnaker. Albert Oehlen’s book Kleine und mittlere Gespenster was published by Rookie Books, while Ekblad’s solo exhibition WORLD’S LARGEST METAPHOR opens at The Hepworth Wakefield in November 2026 before traveling to Kunsten, Museum of Modern Art Aalborg in Summer 2027. Oehlen and Ekblad each released editions with TEXTE ZUR KUNST, and Ekblad’s sculpture A DEADLY SLUMBER OF ALL FORCES entered the Kistefos Sculpture Park collection.
The Signal
The updates signal sustained institutional interest in both artists across Europe and the United States, with Ekblad securing her first major UK solo show and a major monograph. Oehlen’s inclusion in MoMA’s Post-Atomic Abstraction presentation and a new public sculpture in Weidingen underscore continued market and curatorial attention to their abstract practices. Collectors may note the timing of the Hepworth Wakefield exhibition and the limited editions as indicators of rising visibility ahead of further institutional placements.
