Getty Villa to Debut Ancient Mycenaean Routsi Crown in Collaborative Exhibition with Greece
The J. Paul Getty Museum will display the Routsi Crown, one of Europe’s oldest known headpieces dating from 1630 to 1510 BCE, as part of the exhibition "The Kingdom of Pylos: Warrior-Princes of Mycenaean Greece." Conservators used 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and CAD software to engineer a custom 3D-printed mount and seismic base isolator to protect the fragile bronze, gold, and silver artifact from earthquakes. The exhibition, co-organized with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, is scheduled to run at the Getty Villa from June 27, 2025, through January 12, 2026.
