Getty Villa to Debut Ancient Mycenaean Routsi Crown in 'The Kingdom of Pylos' Exhibition
The Getty Villa will display the Routsi Crown, one of Europe’s oldest known headpieces dating from 1630 to 1510 BCE, as part of the exhibition "The Kingdom of Pylos: Warrior-Princes of Mycenaean Greece." To protect the fragile bronze, gold, and silver artifact from seismic activity in Los Angeles, Getty mountmakers utilized 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and CAD software to create a custom-fitted 3D-printed cradle. The exhibition, co-organized with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, is scheduled to run from June 27, 2025, through January 12, 2026.
