Hauser & Wirth Announces Representation of Leonardo Drew
Hauser & Wirth has announced representation of artist Leonardo Drew. The Tallahassee-born, Brooklyn and San Antonio-based artist, born in 1961, transforms raw materials including wood, metal and cotton into large-scale wall reliefs, freestanding sculptures and installations through processes of oxidation, weathering and erosion. Drew maintains studios in New York City and San Antonio and has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Madison Square Park and the Blaffer Art Museum.
The Signal
The move places Drew alongside artists such as Jack Whitten and Mark Bradford in the gallery’s program, expanding Hauser & Wirth’s platform for material-driven abstraction that addresses personal and collective histories. For collectors and institutions, the partnership signals broader international exposure for Drew’s works, which are already held in collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA and Tate.
