Hauser & Wirth Menorca Unveils Outdoor Sculpture Trail Curated by Cristina Iglesias
Hauser & Wirth Menorca has opened an outdoor sculpture trail curated by artist Cristina Iglesias as part of the summer exhibition 'Directionless,' organized by Rashid Johnson. The trail features works by Iglesias, Ali Cherri, Mona Hatoum, Rayyane Tabet, Latifa Echakhch, Yto Barrada, and Sigalit Landau, installed across gardens, façades, and pathways. Highlights include Hatoum's 'Inside Out (Concrete)' (2019) at the landing dock, Iglesias' 'Littoral (Lunar Meteorite)' (2025), and Tabet's site-specific wall drawing 'Elegy at Minorca' (2026). The exhibition runs through the summer, with indoor gallery works by Barrada and Landau opening in June.
The Signal
The selection reflects Iglesias' focus on the Mediterranean as a space of displacement and cultural exchange, with artists from Lebanon, Israel, Morocco, and elsewhere. The trail emphasizes sculpture as an experience in motion, engaging with architecture, water, and landscape. For collectors and curators, the presentation underscores Hauser & Wirth's commitment to site-responsive programming at its Menorca outpost, while the thematic focus on migration and memory aligns with broader institutional trends toward politically engaged, place-based exhibitions.
