Hauser & Wirth Partners with Students for Poster Campaign in SoHo
Hauser & Wirth announced a collaboration between artist Allison Katz and 18 graphic design students from Chelsea Career and Technical Education High School, a partner of The Drawing Center. The project was tied to Katz's exhibition 'Allison Katz. Outta the Bag' at Hauser & Wirth's Wooster Street gallery. Students created posters responding to the prompt 'What does a food system that serves people look like?' in partnership with Project EATS, an urban farming nonprofit, and Manuela NY, a restaurant with an in-house composter. The posters will be displayed in SoHo from 20 May through 3 June 2026.
The Signal
The initiative extends Hauser & Wirth's learning partnerships with The Drawing Center, connecting students directly with contemporary artists and urban agriculture. For collectors and educators, this project signals a growing trend of galleries embedding community engagement into exhibition programming, moving beyond the white cube into real-world social impact. Katz's focus on poster making as a way to slow down and provoke curiosity offers a model for how artists can translate their practice into accessible, public-facing works that resonate with younger audiences.
