Hend Samir, an Egyptian painter based in Amsterdam, has won the 14th edition of the ABN AMRO Art Award, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam announced on May 27, 2026. The jury praised Samir's virtuosic technique and enigmatic narratives that address trauma, sexuality, and family relationships. As part of the award, Samir will receive a solo exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam opening March 5, 2027, followed by a presentation at the ABN AMRO Art Space. The prize also includes a €10,000 monetary award, a publication designed by Irma Boom, and the acquisition of a work for the ABN AMRO Art Collection.
