Kunsthaus Zürich Expands Art, Health and Society Initiatives
Kunsthaus Zürich announced on May 20, 2026, its expanded role as a site of societal participation through programs linking art with health and community engagement. The museum is developing initiatives at the intersection of art, medicine and social inclusion, including the new art.in program for youth in crisis developed with Stiftung Children Action and PUK-Life. Workshops at Kinderspital Zürich began in 2025 with a project by Monster Chetwynd, while ongoing formats include Aufgeweckte Kunstgeschichten for people with dementia since 2012 and Connect dance sessions for neurological conditions.
The Signal
The programs position the institution as a platform for personal development and social cohesion, with new offerings such as EinzigART scheduled to launch in autumn 2026 for people with cognitive impairments. Exhibitions addressing body, health and perception, including a double presentation of Maria Lassnig and Edvard Munch opening October 2, 2026, reinforce these themes. The approach demonstrates how museums can extend their public mandate beyond display to measurable community impact.
