Louvre Abu Dhabi Launches Olfactory Experience-Art in Scents with Givaudan
Louvre Abu Dhabi has introduced Olfactory Experience-Art in Scents, an immersive guided program that transforms selected works from the museum’s permanent collection into ten bespoke fragrances. The initiative was developed in partnership with Givaudan and features a custom Art in Scents booklet produced by Magique studio, which uses micro-encapsulation technology to release scents from each page. Master perfumers Dalia Izem and Gaël Montero created the fragrances by interpreting the historical, emotional, and spatial qualities of the artworks, including a signature scent titled A Universal Breeze that is diffused at the museum entrance.
The Signal
The program offers visitors a multisensory approach to engaging with the collection and positions the museum as a site for innovative interpretive experiences. By extending visual artworks into the olfactory realm, the collaboration signals an institutional strategy to broaden access and create personal connections that may appeal to diverse audiences beyond traditional viewership. Sessions run on Thursdays and Saturdays at 3 p.m. with individual and group pricing available.
