M+ and Art Basel Commission Shahzia Sikander for Large-Scale Facade Animation in Hong Kong

M+ museum has co-commissioned Pakistani-American artist Shahzia Sikander to create a cinematic animation titled '3 to 12 Nautical Miles' for the M+ Facade in Hong Kong. The hand-painted digital work, supported by Art Basel and UBS, explores maritime trade and imperial histories linking the British East India Company, Mughal India, and Qing China. The animation will be displayed nightly from March 23 to June 21, 2026, marking the fifth year of the institutional partnership.
