MAXXI L'Aquila will present a major exhibition of Ai Weiwei’s work from April 29 to September 6, 2026, spanning five decades of the artist's career. The survey includes early 1980s New York works alongside new sculptures produced in Ukraine in 2025. Hosted at Palazzo Ardinghelli, the exhibition centers on works related to the 2008 Sichuan earthquake to draw parallels with L’Aquila’s own 2009 seismic history.
