Mori Art Museum Chairperson Emerita Mori Yoshiko Awarded Honorary OBE
The Facts
Mori Yoshiko, Chairperson Emerita of the Mori Art Museum and a director of the Mori Building Company, received an Honorary OBE from King Charles III on November 6, 2025, at the British Embassy in Tokyo. Ambassador Julia Longbottom presented the award, recognizing her contributions to UK-Japan culture and education. Mori has also served as a Trustee of the Royal Academy of Arts and helped establish the British School Tokyo campus. The late Mori Minoru, museum founder, received an Honorary KBE in 2009.
The Signal
The award highlights the Mori Art Museum's role in fostering UK-Japan artistic exchange. Under Mori Yoshiko, the museum has featured British artists in exhibitions such as the Turner Prize retrospective and collaborations with the Wellcome Trust. An upcoming Ron Mueck show in late April 2026 continues this focus. For collectors, the honor underscores the value of cross-cultural institutional partnerships and philanthropic leadership.
