Sarah Lucas Selected for Inaugural New Museum Plaza Commission in New York

The New Museum has announced Sarah Lucas as the first recipient of its public plaza commission, featuring the debut of her work VENUS VICTORIA on May 12, 2026. Selected by an all-artist jury including Cindy Sherman and Julie Mehretu, Lucas is the first of five artists scheduled to participate in the 10-year program. The sculpture will be installed for a two-year period in the museum's new OMA-designed outdoor plaza on Bowery and Prince Street.
