The Facts
Sharjah Art Foundation's fifth edition of Perform Sharjah will present 16 performances, including eight world premieres and seven regional premieres, across venues in Sharjah from October 11 to November 29, 2026. The programme includes works by Mohamed Toukabri, Nathan Ellis, Mallika Taneja, Sofiane Chalal, Sebastian Mayer, Sim Chi Yin, and Maria Hassabi. Hassabi's 'Us,' which premiered at Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2026 in Brussels, is co-presented with Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels. The season also sees the return of 'Perhaps Here,' a series of newly commissioned site-specific works over three days.
The Signal
The programme's focus on the body as a site of artistic inquiry reflects a broader shift in contemporary performance toward participatory and intimate experiences. For collectors and curators, Perform Sharjah continues the foundation's role as a key commissioner of experimental performance in the Gulf. The high number of premieres underscores Sharjah Art Foundation's commitment to producing new work and its growing international network.
