On July 17, 2026, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam announced "Adam Pendleton: Some Wild Kind of Language," opening October 9, 2026, and running through March 7, 2027. The exhibition transforms the museum's historic 1895 building staircase, one of the first white cubes, into a "black cube" for eight new monumental Basis drawings made with gold ink on matte black paper. In the IMC Gallery, also known as the Gallery of Honour, Pendleton's paintings—including a nearly six-meter-wide work—enter dialogue with modernist and post-war abstraction, referencing artists such as Barnett Newman and Morris Louis from the museum's collection.
