The Facts
The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam will present the third and final leg of a major traveling retrospective of Yayoi Kusama, running September 11, 2026, through January 17, 2027. The show spans more than seventy years of Kusama's career and includes painting, sculpture, installations, drawings, fashion, collages, and happenings. It is organized with the Fondation Beyeler outside Basel, where it was on view from October 2025 to January 2026, and the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, where it was on view from March to August 2026.
The Signal
The Amsterdam presentation closes a three-venue survey that underscores Kusama's standing as one of the most influential artists of the past seven decades. For collectors, the retrospective offers a rare chronological view of her evolution across media, from early works and collages to the immersive installations that have come to define her practice, and reinforces the Stedelijk's commitment to staging major international surveys.
