The Facts

Sean Scully will present the complete Stack painting series, selected Cactus paintings, and his new Natured series of drawings at Château La Coste, France. The exhibition, curated by Michel Gauthier, opens August 23, 2026, and is organized by Thaddaeus Ropac gallery. Château La Coste is a renowned art and architecture venue in Provence.

The Signal

The Stack series is a cornerstone of Scully's abstract practice, and showing it in its entirety provides a comprehensive view of this important body of work. The inclusion of the new Natured drawings, alongside the earlier Cactus paintings, demonstrates the artist's continued exploration of abstraction and natural forms. This exhibition offers collectors and institutions a chance to engage with Scully's evolving practice in a unique setting.
