Exhibition Thaddaeus Ropac

Thaddaeus Ropac is presenting a one-off screening of Oliver Beer's video opera The Cave alongside the artist's London exhibition The Sky in the Cave. The work was filmed inside La Grotte de Font-de-Gaume in Dordogne and uses the cave's acoustic properties for a new composition performed by eight singers. The singers include Rufus Wainwright, Woodkid, eee gee, Mélissa Laveaux, Hamed Sinno, Jean Christophe Brizard, Mo'Ju and Michiko Takahashi. The installation was first shown at the 17th Lyon Biennale.

The Signal

The screening highlights Beer's ongoing exploration of sound, architecture and prehistoric sites within a contemporary gallery setting. It demonstrates how galleries are expanding programming to include time-based works that link historical locations with living performers. For collectors this signals continued institutional interest in Beer's cross-disciplinary projects and their potential positioning in both private and museum collections.
