V&A South Kensington to Launch 'Lost Music Venues' Exhibition Celebrating UK Club Culture
The Victoria and Albert Museum will open a new display on May 30, 2026, featuring over 100 objects from approximately 50 defunct British music venues and nightclubs. The exhibition includes artifacts such as the original London Astoria sign, handwritten Oasis lyrics, and a Vivienne Westwood club outfit to document the cultural impact of grassroots spaces from the 1980s to the 2010s. Developed with the Music Venue Trust, the display also addresses contemporary challenges facing the sector, including licensing laws and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
