Works & Process Announces Fall 2026 Season at Guggenheim New York and Partner Venues
The Facts
Works & Process announced its fall 2026 season on August 4, 2026, featuring performances, residencies, and commissions at Guggenheim New York, Manhattan West, and Free Food Refettorio Harlem. The season kicks off September 9 with Gather Round: Let's Dance!, a free outdoor series at Manhattan West. Highlights include SCUFF Queer Country Dancing at the Guggenheim rotunda on September 28, pop-up performances by MasterZ at Work Dance Family at Refettorio Harlem in October, and the premiere of The 24/7 Diner by Courtney "Balenciaga" Washington. The season also includes over 25 fully funded creative residencies across seven states, with artists receiving $175 per day, transportation, health insurance, and housing. Five Works & Process commissions will tour nationally, including Brokeback Mountain, The Ballet and Princess Lockerooo's The NutWAACKer.
The Signal
The fall season underscores Works & Process's model of supporting artists from studio to stage with longitudinal residencies and public engagement. For collectors and curators, the program signals a growing institutional commitment to performance art and cross-disciplinary collaboration, particularly with dance companies like Paul Taylor Dance Company and Miami City Ballet. The inclusion of community-based works and queer country dance parties reflects a trend toward participatory, inclusive programming that blurs boundaries between audience and performer. The residency program's expansion to over a dozen partners in seven states indicates a strategic investment in artist development outside major urban centers, potentially influencing where new works premiere and tour.
