The 11th edition of the Zona Maco art fair took place in Mexico City, having surreptitiously moved its dates from April to February. Highlights included a solo project by local artist Adriana Lara at New York's Algus Greenspon, featuring cut carpets and figurative screen-prints, and a booth by Mexico City's House of Gaga with collaboratively produced 'War Pickles' and works by Bill Hayden, Mathieu Malouf, Sam Pulitzer, and Antek Walczek. The opening party at Televisa San Ángel studios drew over a thousand guests. A panel titled 'Is Mexico City the New Berlin?' was held at the satellite Material Art Fair, which offered curated presentations from galleries including Lulu, Regina Rex, and Yautepec. An exhibition by Swiss-born artist Ugo Rondinone opened at Museo Anahuacalli, displaying granite stick-figures and two massive golems, 'The Static' and 'The Serene,' alongside the museum's pre-Columbian collection.

The fair's shift to February and the contrast with the more cohesive Material Art Fair highlight the evolving dynamics of the Latin American art market.
