Antony Gormley and Ann Demeester to Discuss Body and Space at Art Basel Unlimited
Antony Gormley joins Ann Demeester, director of Kunsthaus Zürich, for a public discussion on his sculptural installation Here and Now at Art Basel Unlimited. The talk examines Gormley's long-term focus on the human body in sculpture and references his exhibitions Geestgrond at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp and What Holds Us at Galleria Continua in San Gimignano. Gormley produces sculptures, installations and public artworks that explore the body's relationship to space, and he lives and works in London. Demeester has directed Kunsthaus Zürich since October 2022, after leading the Frans Hals Museum and de Appel, and has curated biennials including the Tirana Biennale and Baltic Triennial.
The Signal
The conversation signals Gormley's continued institutional presence across major European venues while Art Basel Unlimited provides a high-visibility platform for large-scale works. Collectors and curators can read the pairing with Demeester as an indicator of sustained museum interest in Gormley's practice and an opportunity to assess how his body-space investigations are positioned within current fair programming. The free event in the Auditorium at Messe Basel requires advance booking.
