THE ROLE
To assist the Senior Security Manager in providing the Company and its clients with consistently high standards of Security, Risk Management and Client Service. Ensuring Sotheby’s procedural rules and regulations are enforced; maintaining the highest level of personal safety for staff, visitors and property. Responsibilities are primarily Hong Kong based, with involvement with other Sotheby’s Asia offices as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Security Control Room: Oversight of the day to day operations and administration of the Security Department. To manage and operate the security system including access control, CCTV and alarm systems.
- Contract Security Team Management: The supervision and maintenance of consistently high-performance standards; to ensure the Company’s requirements are met, both in Security and Client Service areas. Liaising regularly with the Contract Security Team to identify and resolve any issues; arrange and monitor bookings as required; check and monitor invoices and expenses.
- Incidents/Issues: To assist with damage/loss investigations, CCTV reviewing, reporting, emergency response. Keeping The Head of Security informed at all times.
- Public Areas: The constant assessment of security risks; liaising closely with the relevant Floor Managers; proactive monitoring of all security cover provided by staff, contractors and CCTV; taking corrective action when required.
- Security provision for Events and Sales: Working with the Operations team to fulfil the security requests for events in various locations. Assisting the Senior Security Manager with set up procedures for offsite exhibitions, events and sales, in particular jewellery and high value property.
- Security escort provision: Providing professional security escort service for staff and property as and when required.
- Health & Safety: Monitor the in-house security team to ensure the deployment of qualified First Aider, investigate H&S related incidents and report to management.
- Premises safety: To carry out regular premises inspection to ensure the proper implementations of all policies and procedures, and work with related staff to ensure the safety of all hallways, exits, and fire equipment. All actions being taken should be documented for management review. To ensure the validity and appropriate maintenance of all fire equipment.
- Annual Fire Drill: To participate and coordinate with building management and Sotheby’s staff to carry out an annual fire drill, this includes arranging staff to attend the fire talk and assigning fire warden for the drill, and preparing the result / report of the fire drill for management review.
- Operate at all times in line with corporate governance and compliance policies, practices and procedures.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Degree level or equivalent with at least 3 years related experience.
- A responsible, organized individual with experience of delivering consistently high standards of security and client service.
- Basic knowledge of security and fire inspection procedures essential, first aid training would be advantageous.
- Be able to communicate effectively at all levels across the business; with staff, contractors and clients.
- Be able to work calmly under pressure managing emergency situations.
- Be computer literate, with ongoing current knowledge of security and alarm systems.
- Be able to work effectively and independently.
- Be willing to undertake further training as required.
- Be willing to travel when required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English and Cantonese/or Mandarin essential. Must be able to read and write Traditional Chinese.
