Born in Constantine, Algeria, Adel Abdessemed studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Batna and Algiers before moving to France to attend the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His early career was marked by a rapid emergence in the international contemporary art scene, characterized by his provocative use of diverse media.
