Born in Georgia, Andro Wekua is currently based in Zurich and Berlin. His practice is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach, often blending sculpture, painting, collage, and film to create atmospheric, psychologically charged environments.
His work frequently examines the intersection of personal and collective memory, often utilizing fragmented figures and architectural motifs to evoke a sense of nostalgia or unease. His signature aesthetic often incorporates uncanny, lifelike sculptural elements alongside painterly surfaces.
Wekua continues to receive international recognition, with recent projects including a solo exhibition titled By the Window at Ordet in Milan, presented in collaboration with Gladstone Gallery and the Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation. He is also included in the 2026 exhibition New Humans: Memories of the Future at the New Museum in New York.
