Getty Launches 'OMMM' Video Podcast for Mindful Art Engagement
Getty announced on June 16, 2026, the launch of its first video podcast, "OMMM: Our Museum Mindfulness Meditation," hosted by gallery educator Lilit Sadoyan. The twice-weekly podcast guides listeners through breathing exercises and meditations inspired by artworks from Getty's collection, with the first episode focusing on Vincent van Gogh's "Irises." The first season includes 12 meditation episodes and 12 bonus episodes featuring guests such as astrologer Chani Nicholas and Buddhist monk Shoukei Matsumoto. Getty podcast producer Zoe Goldman said the venture aims to help audiences connect with the collection on a deeper level.
The Signal
The podcast reflects a growing institutional interest in mindfulness as a tool for art engagement, a trend Getty has explored through gallery tours like "Mindful Moment in the Museum" and "The Breathe Tour." By pairing meditation with canonical works—from van Gogh to Degas to a 15th-century astrological manuscript—Getty positions itself as a leader in wellness-oriented museum programming. For collectors and curators, this signals a shift toward experiential, therapeutic encounters with art that could influence how institutions design future public programs and digital content.
