Getty Publications has announced the release of 'Marching West: The Los Angeles Civil Rights Movement in Photographs,' a volume featuring over 100 images documenting Black equality activism in Southern California. The book includes previously unpublished works from the Getty Research Institute and the Tom & Ethel Bradley Center at California State University, Northridge. Authors Karin L. Stanford and Mark Speltz curate photographs by Harry Adams, Howard Bingham, and others to examine the regional impact of the movement outside the American South.
