The Facts
Hauser & Wirth founders Iwan and Manuela Wirth have published 'A Cookbook for Iwan', a recipe collection drawing on contributions from an international network of artists, collectors, curators, and chefs. The book includes recipes from Annie Leibovitz, Amy Sherald, Martin Creed, Pipilotti Rist, Jenny Holzer, Cindy Sherman, and Don McCullin, as well as Louise Bourgeois's cucumber salad first published in MoMA's Artists' Cookbook in 1977. A foreword by food writer Tom Parker Bowles introduces the volume, which also features contributions from chefs Daniel Humm and Ruth Rogers, architects Luis Laplace and Annabelle Selldorf, and curators Frances Morris and Hans Ulrich Obrist. The hardcover edition is priced at $70 / £60 / €65 / CHF 65 / HKD 600.
The Signal
The cookbook extends Hauser & Wirth's brand into lifestyle publishing, reinforcing the gallery's strategy of positioning its artists within a broader cultural community. For collectors, the volume offers a rare personal glimpse of artists' daily lives, potentially deepening engagement with the gallery's program. The project also highlights the Wirths' hospitality venture Artfarm, suggesting a model where galleries build community beyond the white cube.
