Kunsthaus Zürich Appoints Remo Longhi as New Head of Operations
On September 30, 2025, Kunsthaus Zürich announced the appointment of Remo Longhi as its new Head of Operations, effective January 2026. In this role, Longhi will oversee finances, administration, security, IT, and infrastructure and technology. As a member of the executive board, he will collaborate with director Ann Demeester and the board of the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft to support the museum's strategic development. Longhi, born in 1981 in Stansstad, Nidwalden, previously served as Commercial Director and Deputy Director at the Fotomuseum Winterthur since 2018, and before that as Commercial Director and Co-Director of the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur.
The Signal
The appointment signals a focus on operational stability and long-term institutional consolidation at Switzerland's largest art museum. By bringing in a manager with deep experience in museum finance and administration rather than a curatorial background, Kunsthaus Zürich is prioritizing robust infrastructure and financial health as it continues to position itself as a leading cultural institution. For collectors and artists, such moves often indicate a museum's commitment to sustainable programming and stewardship, which can influence confidence in its exhibition and acquisition strategies.
