The Facts
On October 13, 2026, La Biennale di Venezia announced the final ten days programme for the 61st International Art Exhibition, In Minor Keys, curated by Koyo Kouoh, running from November 13 to November 22, 2026 at the Arsenale. The closing stretch features performances, lectures, debates and roundtables, plus an Assembly of ten artist-led organisations and collectives. Performers include Laurie Anderson, Ziad Antar, rana elnemr, Natalia Lassalle-Morillo and Sofiá Gallisá Muriente, Clarissa Herbst, Tammy Nguyen, Hagar Ophir, Yo-E Ryou, Dominique Rust, Lerato Shadi and Nathalie Vairac. Assembly groups come from Dakar, Lagos, Cali, Kumasi, Nairobi, Bethlehem, Barbados, Lubumbashi and Jakarta, with sessions addressing pedagogy, knowledge transmission and collective care.
The Signal
The programme signals a Biennale invested as much in process and dialogue as in displayed objects, treating artist-run spaces as core models for the art system's future. For collectors and institutions, the closing days foreground community-building, research and long-term relationships over market-facing spectacle, and give international visibility to organisations across Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia. It reinforces Kouoh's curatorial thesis that relational, collective practice—minor keys—carries substantial cultural and institutional weight.
