The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has acquired Francis Bacon’s 1969 triptych, 'Three Studies of Lucian Freud,' as a bequest from the late philanthropist and board co-chair Elaine Wynn. This acquisition marks the first work by Bacon to enter the museum's permanent collection. It is currently the only painting by the artist held in a Los Angeles public collection and the only Bacon triptych in a California public institution.
