Lempertz to Auction Astamangala Gallery Tibetan Collection on June 13
April 6, 2026, Lempertz will offer 58 items from the Astamangala Gallery collection in the first part of its Asian art auction on June 13. The Amsterdam gallery's holdings, assembled by the late Sjoerd de Vries, include a pair of circa-1900 Tibetan silk brocade temple hangings estimated at €20,000 to €25,000. Additional highlights are a pair of Tang Dynasty terracotta Lokapala figures estimated at €80,000 to €100,000, a Song Dynasty celadon jade pendant estimated at €15,000 to €20,000, and works from the Ernst Arthur Voretzsch collection.
The Signal
The dispersal of the Astamangala holdings gives collectors direct access to a specialized body of Tibetan Buddhist material previously held in a single private gallery. Provenance from diplomat Ernst Arthur Voretzsch continues to support prices for archaic Chinese jades and ritual bronzes, while the inclusion of Morita Shiryū's 1964 calligraphy and a rare 1840 netsuke by Shunshōan Toyomasa shows sustained demand for both modern and traditional Japanese works.
