Lisson Gallery Presents Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska's 'Zanzibar' Installation Through September 5

Lisson Gallery is presenting a new iteration of "Zanzibar" (1999-2023), a mixed-media installation by Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska. The work comprises nine diptychs painted by Himid in 1999, paired with a 38-minute multi-layered "libretto" composed by Stawarska in 2023. The installation explores themes of memory, movement, loss, and belonging. It is on view through 5 September 2026. On 5 June, as part of the Lisson Street programme, the gallery hosted a conversation between Himid and Stawarska with Rosie Cooper, Director of Wysing Arts Centre.
