Lisson Gallery Presents New Iteration of Himid and Stawarska's 'Zanzibar'

Lisson Gallery has presented a new iteration of 'Zanzibar', an immersive mixed-media installation by Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska. The work comprises nine diptychs painted by Himid in 1999, paired with a 38-minute multi-layered composition by Stawarska from 2023, exploring themes of memory, movement, loss, and belonging. On June 5, the gallery hosted a conversation between the artists and Rosie Cooper, Director of Wysing Arts Centre, as part of the Lisson Street programme. The installation is on view through September 5, 2026.
