Louvre Abu Dhabi Launches Quantum Dome Collective VR Experience
Louvre Abu Dhabi has opened the Quantum Dome Project, a new collective virtual reality experience that transports visitors through historical landscapes spanning Imperial Rome, Medieval Baghdad, and Mughal India. The family-friendly attraction, located in the museum's Lower Forum, runs approximately 30 minutes per session with fixed time slots. Tickets are priced at 40 AED for adults and 20 AED for children under 18, with complimentary admission for members and people of determination. The experience is not suitable for children under 8, and VR tickets do not include general museum admission.
The Signal
The Quantum Dome Project reflects a growing institutional trend toward immersive, technology-driven visitor experiences as museums seek to attract broader audiences and diversify revenue streams. By offering a time-travel narrative accessible to groups of up to 10, Louvre Abu Dhabi positions itself at the intersection of education and entertainment, leveraging VR to make historical periods tangible without requiring physical artifacts. This move aligns with wider Gulf museum strategies to invest in digital engagement as a complement to traditional collections.
