Partnership M+

The Facts

On July 24, 2026, M+ and Centre Pompidou announced a multi-year strategic partnership, building on a 2024 MoU. The new agreement, signed on May 15, 2026, by M+ Museum Director Suhanya Raffel and Centre Pompidou President Laurent Le Bon, formalizes collaboration across four areas: joint curatorial research, exhibition development and sharing, co-commissions and artwork displays, and collection exchange. A co-curated landmark exhibition featuring works from both collections will open at Centre Pompidou after its reopening, followed by an M+ presentation. A series of exhibitions at M+ begins in 2027, including a Focus Gallery presentation, a major Centre Pompidou co-organized exhibition, and a research-based exhibition in 2028. The partnership also includes a four-year postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Huo Family Foundation and co-commissions of moving image works for M+ Facade and Centre Pompidou Francilien's Belvedere from 2027.

The Signal

This partnership, unprecedented in scale for M+, strengthens cultural exchange between Asia and Europe. For Centre Pompidou, it aligns with its renovation and international expansion strategy, including new locations in Seoul and Brussels. The collaboration will deepen curatorial research and collection-based exchanges, offering audiences access to works from both institutions. For collectors and curators, the joint exhibitions signal a growing commitment to transnational dialogue, potentially elevating Asian contemporary art's visibility in Europe.
