M+ and Centre Pompidou Forge Multi-Year Strategic Partnership
M+, Asia's global museum of contemporary visual culture in Hong Kong, and Centre Pompidou in Paris announced a new multi-year strategic partnership on June 25, 2026. The partnership formalizes a broad framework across four key areas: joint curatorial research, exhibition development and sharing, co-commissions and artwork displays, and collection exchange. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by M+ Museum Director Suhanya Raffel and Centre Pompidou President Laurent Le Bon on May 15, 2026, at M+. Highlights include a co-curated landmark exhibition to be presented at both institutions after Centre Pompidou's reopening, a series of exhibitions at M+ starting in 2027, joint research initiatives, a four-year postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Huo Family Foundation, and co-commissioned moving image works for display on the M+ Facade and Centre Pompidou Francilien.
The Signal
The partnership represents an unprecedented scale and depth for M+, strengthening cultural exchange between Asia and Europe. For Centre Pompidou, which is undergoing renovation until 2030, the collaboration supports its international outreach strategy through the Constellation programme, reaching new audiences and enriching its collection. The agreement underscores West Kowloon Cultural District Authority's commitment to global cultural connectivity, positioning Hong Kong as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange. The partnership signals a deepening of institutional ties between a major French national museum and a leading Asian museum, with sustained research-led curatorship and cross-institutional knowledge sharing expected to generate lasting impact.
