M+ and Leeum Museum of Art to Present Comprehensive Lee Bul Survey in Hong Kong
M+ in Hong Kong will present Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now at the M+ West Gallery from March 14 to August 9, 2026. Co-organised with Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul and supported by HSBC, the exhibition features more than 200 works by the South Korean artist born in 1964, including forty-nine early works from the late 1990s to early 2000s and pieces created in 2024. It previously attracted approximately 105,000 visitors during its four-month run at Leeum from September 2025 to January 2026. The show will tour next to the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp in Antwerp and the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, ending in late 2027.
The Signal
The survey positions Lee Bul as a central figure in global contemporary art whose multidisciplinary practice addresses technology, utopia, and the body, providing curators and collectors with a benchmark for evaluating her trajectory across Asia and international institutions. The accompanying monograph co-published by M+, Leeum, and Thames & Hudson supplies fresh scholarly texts that contextualise her contributions within regional and global discourses. Hong Kong’s urban setting offers a relevant backdrop for encountering her architectural installations and hybrid forms.
