The Facts
On October 21, 2026, the Centre Pompidou, M+, and MoMA announced a new cultural alliance to co-organize exhibitions and programs, deepen collaborative research and conservation, and facilitate long-term loans. The three institutions signed a Framework Agreement at an event at M+ in Hong Kong on October 30, 2026. The alliance combines their collections and expertise, serving a combined 10 million annual in-person visitors and 125 million online visitors. The directors of each institution—Christophe Cherix of MoMA, Laurent Le Bon of Centre Pompidou, and Suhanya Raffel of M+—said the partnership will function as a gateway across three continents.
The Signal
The alliance marks an unprecedented level of cooperation among major museums across Europe, Asia, and North America. By pooling resources and aligning programming, the institutions aim to expand how modern and contemporary art is understood globally. For the art world, this signals a shift toward collaborative models that leverage collective strengths to reach wider audiences and foster cross-cultural dialogue.
