On September 29, 2026, Malba (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) announced that during its 25th anniversary gala on September 17, founder and president Eduardo F. Costantini confirmed a major expansion beneath Plaza Perú. The project will double the museum's exhibition space and is being designed by Taller Frida Escobedo, the New York- and Mexico City-based architecture studio led by Frida Escobedo. The expansion is currently in the design phase, with an anticipated opening in late 2029 or early 2030. New facilities will include temporary exhibition halls, an auditorium, multipurpose spaces, an outdoor plaza, workshops, storage, and offices.
