Exhibition MoMA

MoMA PS1 will debut "Among the flowers I learned to love, A Garden of decreation" by artist and poet Precious Okoyomon on July 24, 2026. The installation transforms the museum's courtyard into a living forest of plants, sculpture, and sound, featuring a giant teddy bear sculpture and a wild garden that evolves with the seasons. It marks Okoyomon's largest outdoor work to date and the inaugural piece in MoMA PS1's Courtyard Commission series, a biannual program for site-specific large-scale works. The installation will be on view for over two years and is accessible as part of the museum's new free admission policy.

The Signal

The garden, developed with specialty nursery issima and accompanied by a sound piece by composer Oliver Leith, blends native and invasive plants, annuals and perennials, and cultivated and wild growth. Inspired by Simone Weil's concept of "decreation," the work addresses climate change and instability, proposing a mutable, adaptive landscape for New York City. Organized by Ruba Katrib, MoMA PS1's Chief Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs, the installation positions the museum as a site for experimental outdoor art and community engagement, aligning with its free admission initiative and summer music series Warm Up.
