The Facts
The Southbank Centre will present 'Nan Goldin: You Never Did Anything Wrong' at the Hayward Gallery in London from November 24, 2026 to March 14, 2027. The exhibition, Goldin's first institutional show in the UK since 2002, features four recent films: 'Memory Lost' (2019–2021), 'Stendhal Syndrome' (2024), 'You never did anything wrong, Part I' (2024), and the public debut of 'You never did anything wrong, Part II' (2026). The films address addiction, intimacy, and a new focus on animal consciousness and the land, accompanied by photographic stills from Goldin's archive. The exhibition rounds off the Southbank Centre's 75th anniversary year and is supported by multiple donors, including Gagosian.
The Signal
Goldin's autobiographical approach transformed photography by closing the distance between observer and subject. This exhibition marks a shift as she turns from human relationships to animal and environmental themes, expanding her visual diary. The show reaffirms Goldin's relevance and offers a rare UK platform for her recent film work, highlighting the Southbank Centre's commitment to major photography exhibitions.
